How to Create a Blogger.com Blog

There are lots of people starting a new blog every day. But then again there are people who think that you have to know a lot about computers and the Internet to be able to blog.

But this is not at all the case. Setting up a blog is easier than ever. To make it even more simple for you I will walk you through the process of getting a Blogger.com blog to run. Also consider looking at WordPress.com, another blogging platform.

What is Blogger.com?

Blogger.com, owned by Google, is a blogging platform which allows you to set up your own blog for free. It comes with a lot of features such as a neat Google Adsense integration.

How Do I Create a Blogger.com Blog?

First of all visit Blogger.com. On the right side there should be a button saying Create A Blog. Click on it and it will lead you to a new page. The page should look like the one below, at least the top part.

Google Accounts

If you already have a Google account just click on the button where it says Sign in. After signing up go ahead and jump to the next section.

If you do not have an account with Google, go ahead and fill out the form. In the first box you need to fill in your email address. Then for safety reasons you have to repeat it in the box below. Do the same for the password fields, enter a password and repeat.

Next you have to fill in your display name, the name with which your blog articles will be signed.

The box below the display name one probably says something about Word verification. This is a security measure to keep out spam blogs and all you need to do here is to enter the characters you see in the picture into the field.

The last step is to accept the Terms of Service, of course only if you truly accept them.

Click on Continue and you will be lead to a new page like the one below.

On the new page you will have to fill in information about your blog. First of all enter your blog title. It is especially important to search engines but do not worry too much over it as you will also be able to change later in time.

The blog url is very important as it is the address through which people will be able to visit your blog. After filling in the address, there will probably be another Word Verification. Just do as you did last time and enter the characters into the field.

Below the word verification field there will be links to advanced options but we will not care about them in the moment as we can always set it up at a later time.

Click again on Continue and guess what? You will be lead to a new page.

Choose Template

There you will be able to choose a template, i.e. a blog layout. Choose whatever template you like but do not get obsessed with it as you can always change it at a later point in time. Click on Continue and yes, you will be lead to a new site. It should look like the one below.

Done Setting Up

So now you have created your own blog. Click on Start Blogging to go to your blog dashboard.

Visit Your Blog

Now you can take a look at your blog through the blog address (url) you entered above, i.e. [yourdomain].blogspot.com .  You will be further able to go to your blog dashboard by logging in on Blogger.com with your username or email address and password.
