How to Track Your Web Site Visitors

The Internet is growing every day and for that matter also the number of web sites. The reason behind this is because people started to realize the potential of the Internet.
While the the number of web sites increased, so did the demand for so called site tracking software.
What Are Site Trackers?
Site trackers offer a lot of functionality but the most basic one is to track web site hits. These days they can do much more than that by showing you where you visitors came from, what pages they visited, how many pages they visited and so on.
Here some of the most popular ones:
Which Site Trackers Are Good?
I have used myself Google Analytics, SiteMeter and Woopra. All of these were good web site trackers while some offer more features than the others.
Obviously Google Analytics is the most popular and prominent software. Soon Google will also be integrating Google Adsense stats into Analytics so it may be even more useful.
Woopra is also a lot like Google Analytics as it has lots of useful features. It also comes with a desktop client that runs on (almost) every operating system.
Last but not least SiteMeter. I used it on several web sites and it does provide lots of information but it is a software that may be more useful to people who do not care as much about visitors statistics.
How to Install a Site Tracker
Most of these statistic softwares are easy to install. Usually after the sign up process, Javascript or HTML code is provided for you that you just have to add to your web site’s source code.
After editing your web site code you should be ready to go. Just wait a few minutes for the server to register the new code.
