Let Go of Your Fear
Posted on 15. Mar, 2010 by Julius.
There are so many people on the Internet trying to make money. And of course there are people earning a decent income through their web site. But then again there are others who are not making any money at all.
Why are some people successful and others aren’t? It certainly has to do with fear. The fear of not having enough money. Another part of becoming successful is to learn how to deal with fear.
As I’ve mentioned, wanting to make money is one of the most fundamental human needs. Because in the world, as it is today, you need to have money in order to survive. In order to be able to live your life.
But do you really? From our early childhood on we have been taught that having a good education and a decent job is important in your life. And of course it is. Education is important.
Our Fear
But the constant reminder has created a fear within ourselves. The fear of losing your job, of not having a good education, of not being good enough.
Parents always want the best for their children. And there is nothing wrong with showing what you should achieve. But ultimately it will cause fear. Fear of not being good enough for your parents. Fear of being a loser.
Let Go
To get where we want to be, we need to let go of that fear. Think about losing your job. Then tell yourself: “So what?”. There are enough opportunities in life that will get you where you want to be. Enough opportunities that will make you the person you wanted to be all along.
It’s hard to say this just yet. And to get to the point where you feel comfortable saying this you need to trust.
Trust People
Trust the people around you. Believe in the people all around the world. Without believing in the good of everyone you will never be able to let go of your fear. How could you?
Only by believing in the good of everyone will you be able to get rid of your fear.
I believe that once I have trouble that people will help me to keep going. I believe that if I fall down there will be someone to catch me. I believe that once I fell to the ground there will be someone who will help me to get back on my feet.
Once you have come to that point you realize that it’s not hard to let go of your fear. Because you have faith in the good of all people.
By trusting other people, you ultimately let go of your fear. And you will become more successful.
Deciding whether or not to trust a person is like deciding whether or not to climb a tree, because you might get a wonderful view from the highest branch, or you might simply get covered in sap, and for this reason many people choose to spend their time alone and indoors, where it is harder to get a splinter.
What do you think? Do you believe in the good of other people? Does fear stop you from becoming the blogger you want to be?

Hi, I'm Julius. I first started blogging over two years ago and it's been a rough ride, yet I made it. On And Break I hope to provide you with information that will make your ride more smooth.

Fear can control us or it can help us. I went skydiving, because, I knew it would be fun. But the fear of falling out of a plane, for many was unbearable. Only 1% of people will do it.
Focus on the benefits of doing something rather than the fear and you’ll get a lot further.
Regarding to losing a job, some managers use that as an excuse, to keep people in fear. Plus so that an employer will get the job done.

James I always wanted to go skydiving. I think it would be awesome. And I agree I think for most of us that fear is paralyzing.
And yes you should focus on the benefits but if you solely do that you will have not dealt with fear. It will creep up from time to time. If you want to become successful without letting fear govern your actions than you should do what I talked about in the article. Let go of your fear by trusting other people.

Jules,
A great post, I like the idea of letting go and trusting others to support you. This will certainly help you release your fears. It is a great feeling knowing you have the support of others.
Having faith; it takes lot but it can be done.

Thank you Paul! It truly is a great feeling to know that others will support you. It helps to erase that fear. So if you need help with your blog than feel free to tell me I will do my best to help you out
What do you think also helps to erode fear?

“Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Fear is the path to the dark side.”
Yoda got that one right. And even though you probably can’t get rid of it, you can at least use it to your advantage.
Whenever I’m fearful when writing a post, I know I*m on to something good. And I not only trust in people, but in life in general. Your mindset does reflect your reality.
Feel fearful all the time and you get into situations that justify that behavior.
I’m sorry, but I have to quote Master Yoda yet once again
” the force is with you, always !”
BTW – I followed your advice and changed my module week into the widget form. Thanx for that tip

There is truth in Yoda’s words. I agree with your point here. You will never truly get rid of your fears but you can use them to your advantage. You at least partly control them.
And again I couldn’t agree more. You can change the world by looking at it differently. As I’ve discussed with Eric: Change your attitude, change the world.
Mars I just took a look at your blog. It looks awesome with that sidebar widget. I am glad you liked my idea

I agree with your thesis, but I also look at this from another angle – I’d say that what you do for a living, and what you love to do, don’t have to be the same thing. And that you don’thave to make money from a pursuit in order for that pursuit to have value.
I think that it’s almost unfortunate that it’s possible to “monetize” small blogs. That ability causes many bloggers to focus on making money, maximizing traffic, increasing their search engine ranking, instead of on the pursuit itself. And when they pour a ton of time into the money aspect of the blog and earn barely enough to buy a burger a month, they feel that the whole pursuit is a failure.
The idea that they could have had fun, could have built a community, could have taken joy from the creative experience, is lost. Stuff those keywords, insert those subheaders, stage giveaways, submit to directories, and tweet tweet tweet. Write a post? Oh, yeah, gotta do that.
You don’t see people so consistently and determinedly trying to “monetize” their fantastic chicken and dumpling recipe, or their ability at needlepoint or building fighting kites or knitting or building magnificent model railroad layouts or breeding daylilies. They just do these things because they love doing it and because they’re good at it.
Once in a while someone will turn their hobby into a career, but the rest don’t have the vague, sad feeling that they’ve failed, that their love is a waste of time because they’re not making money at it.
So I’d say that you don’t even have to take the risk or make the leap in order to blog without worrying about making money. Just keep your day job, and blog because you love it. If you’re one of the few that hit the big time, great. If you’re not, you’re still doing something worth doing.

Julius,
I think that part of the fear is that we follow a path that someone told us to follow and not what we choose. We are afraid to be wrong and somehow decide that somebody else will pick a better destination for us then we can. We think like sheep.

Great thought Ralph. That is indeed part of that fear. Especially your parents will tell you what you need to do.
And you know what? Sometimes it’s just about having the courage to speak up and don’t follow their path. You need to find your path yourself. No one else can walk that path with you. You need to do it yourself.

Letting go of fear can be hard but is worth it. Not everyone is out to kill or hurt someone and if you trust the wrong person, at least you gave them the benefit of the doubt and maybe they’ll even turn around.
You have to take your chances and just go for it and learn along the way.

You are right Eric. Of course you can always make the mistake of trusting someone who is not trustworthy but I think trusting most people beats the strategy of not trusting them every time.
Ultimately it’s about finding your own path along the way. Thanks Eric

The fear of others, whether it is their opinions, judgement or simply a fear of feeling inferior, has haunted me for too long.

All are great points, but what i see is the problem of so many people is the fear, they are afraid of what will happen if….
Remove your fear and you are on your way to success.
Thanks.

Getting rid of your fear is hard to do but I believe by doing what I mentioned you will be at least able to control it. And as you’ve said many people live in fear of what will happen, but if you always live in fear then you will never truly live. Don’t you think?
